Raymond Spalding
Position: PF College: Louisville Class/YOB: Junior
Height: 6’10 Weight: 215 Wingspan: 7’5
Strengths:
- Physical gifts. Has the look of an NBA post player. Great length, leaping ability and quickness.
- Rim-running potential. Finishes lobs well. Sprints with a purpose in transition.
- Mid-range shot could become elite. His form looks nice and he has a consistent release point. Shots around the elbows look pure. There is also a chance that his range expands, as he took some threes last year.
- Defensive menace. Poses a problem to guards in pick-and-rolls with his ability to move side to side. Keeps hands up on closeouts. Quick enough to recover and make plays on the ball.
- Can make some passes out of the high post.
Weaknesses:
- Relatively thin. Needs to rely on length right now to handle contact to his chest.
- Inconsistent effort at Louisville. Some games he was all over the court, other games he just blended in. Needs to be more committed to playing hard.
- Back-to-basket game is average right now. Has an alright hook shot, but other than that he looks lost in the post.
