NBA Draft Spotlight: Caleb Martin

It was a bit of a disappointing end of a career for Nevada wing Caleb Martin. He will now be in a position to challenge for a spot in the NBA.

Position: SF From: Nevada Class/YOB: Senior
Height: 6’7 Weight: 205 Wingspan: 6’10

Strengths:

  • Spot-up shooting potential. Had a down year from three, but still made over three shots a game from long-range
  • Length and activity as a defender will be a plus against NBA wings
  • Was used as a point forward in certain lineups when his brother was off the court. Knows how to drive and kick
  • Draws contact well when he penetrates

Weaknesses:

  • Goes iso too much and can take tougher shots than he needs to shoot
  • Athleticism is below-average for an NBA perimeter player. Shows when he tries to score one-on-one
  • Shooting was hot or cold this year. He has a strange load for his release. Wonder if he will be able to get off shots at the NBA level
  • Lack of quickness restricts his defensive upside
