NBA Draft Spotlight: Quinndary Weatherspoon

Quinndary Weatherspoon is a solid player that scored over 2,000 points at Mississippi State. He has rounded out his game to make him a serious threat to make a roster next season.

Position: SG From: Mississippi State Class/YOB: Senior
Height: 6’4 Weight: 205 Wingspan: N/A

Strengths:

  • Physical attacker that finishes at a high rate in the paint
  • Capable of hitting outside shots. Shot around 40 percent this season from three
  • Worked to become a more confident and decisive playmaker. He can bring the ball up and initiate an offense if called upon
  • Guards with toughness and pride. Defends with a pitbull mentality that will translate well

Weaknesses:

  • Not a great athlete by NBA standards
  • Lacks great height which can be an issue when scoring against superior athleticism
  • Though improved, he isn’t a true point guard and does most of his distributing off his penetration. More seasoning in the pick-and-roll will help him earn more time
  • I like where his game is at and think he could find a role, but I don’t know what his upside looks like
