NBA Draft Spotlight: Vasilis Charalampopoulos

Greek stretch four Vasilis Charalampopoulos has not announced intentions to enter the 2019 NBA Draft, but in a class largely watered down from an international standpoint, now might be a good time for a player who has been on NBA radars for a while.

Position: SF/PF From: Greece Class/YOB: 1997
Height: 6’9 Weight: 235 Wingspan: N/A

Strengths:

  • Knockdown outside shooter who stretches the floor at his position
  • Good size for a combo forward. Has continued to add strength and has a frame that should respond well to more training
  • Capable of penetrating with either hand and finding his pull-up against slower opponents
  • Has played a consistent role player in a very competitive Greek league

Weaknesses:

  • Underwhelming athlete. First step is slow and foot speed guarding the ball is not ideal
  • True tweener that may have to be a four in the NBA due to his lack of mobility
  • Cannot really handle the ball for more than a couple dribbles against pressure. Will take slower bigs outside, but not going to be getting separation on most NBA wings
  • Will need to get more lean and agile to play a role
  • Doesn’t finish well in the paint
