Finishing as one of the top scorers in NCAA history, South Dakota State’s Mike Daum will look to prove he can be a valuable piece to an NBA team.
Position: PF | From: South Dakota State | Class/YOB: Senior |
Height: 6’9 | Weight: 235 | Wingspan: 7’4 |
Strengths:
- Excellent three-point shooter. Career 41 percent shooter from deep. Outside stroke is his ticket
- Length and instincts allow him to grab rebounds in traffic. Double-double threat every night for South Dakota State and it’s a trait that will translate
- Good feet in the post. Turns over either shoulder and can hit contested turnarounds thanks to his long arms. One of the most efficient post scorers in the class
- Can utilize a few dribbles to attack wild closeouts. Willing passer if help comes over
Weaknesses:
- Slow footed defender that can be attacked in pick-and-rolls
- Despite his length, he is not a very adept shot-blocker. More of the type of post player who will stay down and try to get positioning to rebound
- Will need to continue to work on scoring in the post against stronger defenders who he can’t back down. He does possess a polished face-up game that he should use more
- Struggled with his weight early in his career. Must continue to work to become leaner and more explosive
