In what has been a largely rollercoaster year for highly touted Kansas guard Quentin Grimes, there are questions about whether or not he will return for a sophomore year. He’s playing his best ball right now approaching the NCAA Toutbament.
Position: SG | From: Kansas | Class/YOB: Freshman |
Height: 6’5 | Weight: 210 | Wingspan: N/A |
Strengths:
- Well built frame for a two guard. Plays with strength on both ends
- Moves the ball well and makes plays off P&Rs. Even when his shot has been off, he has been a good secondary playmaker
- Nice mid-range game. Elevates around the elbows well
- Good length to work with as a defender
- Much better three-point shooter than he’s shown. Started to pick up his consistency as Big-12 play progressed
Weaknesses:
- Shot making has been wildly inconsistent. He has had games where he can’t hit anything from the perimeter
- Struggles to be effective at the rim. Despite his strong frame, he is not the quickest off the floor
- Defense shows flashes, but like many freshman guards, he can get lazy staying in front of the ball and fighting through ball screens
- Vision is on and off throughout the game. Has a tendency to force things when the offense breaks down
